The Boomerang Alliance is driving broad systemic change in how we use and dispose of plastic in Australia.

We have successfully led a wide range of national campaigns, resulting in the introduction of container refund schemes in all states and territories; banning problem single use plastics (e.g. bags, microbeads); advancing recycling policies; and popularising reuse. We also deliver the national Plastic Free Places program, working directly in communities and with business to replace plastic with green friendly products and practices.

Our campaigns combine research, advocacy, an active media presence, community mobilisation, participation on government advisory committees and collaboration with businesses investing in the circular economy.

Current projects include national regulations to redesign, collect and recycle packaging; expanding container refund schemes; mainstreaming reusables at events, entertainment and food service precincts; and supporting a strong Australian stance on the global plastic treaty. Our impact has prevented tens of millions of pieces of plastic from entering the environment every year and PMF's generous support will allow us to continue this work.
