Progress with Purpose: Highlights from Ganbina’s Year so far
Ganbina continues to build momentum in its mission to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth through education, training, and employment. With 347 young people engaged across our Jobs4U2 programs, 2025 is shaping up to be a year of strong outcomes and deepened community impact – transforming lives and strengthening communities.
Among the standout achievements this year is the strong uptake in our Accelerated Learning Program, with 44 students receiving tailored support. Meanwhile, 28 youth are actively participating in the Driver Skills Program, working toward their 120 supervised hours. In employment, 52 young people secured paid work, supported by a growing network of over 60 employment partners – a testament to the strength of our industry relationships and the effectiveness of our support model.
A key moment this year was the 12th Annual Ganbina Careers Night, held in May. With 27 exhibitors and over 70 attendees, the event created a vibrant space for youth and families to explore career pathways. Interactive activities like “Ganbingo,” a panel discussion, and a heartfelt talk by guest speaker Levi Power made the evening both engaging and memorable.
The Youth Leadership Program welcomed ten Year 11 students through a refreshed one-year model, designed to foster leadership development, cultural immersion, and corporate engagement. As part of their journey, the group travelled to Sydney and Melbourne in April, where visits to AMP, ANZ, and Leadership Victoria offered valuable exposure to professional environments and inspired ambition, curiosity, and confidence.
Ganbina’s Expansion Projects in Benalla, Deception Bay, and the Gold Coast have gained momentum, with new partnerships in Broadford and Echuca set to support an additional 360 Indigenous children and youth. These collaborations are helping us extend our reach and deepen our impact in local communities.
Our Alumni Program has grown to 77 active members, with regular gatherings fostering long-term connections and mentorship.
A key driver of Ganbina’s growth has been the incredible support of the PMF Foundation, which has partnered with Ganbina since 2014. This long-standing commitment has enabled us to expand our reach, invest in innovation, and deliver programs that create lasting change for Indigenous youth and their communities.
Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Cavanagh, said:
“Our long-term vision remains within reach. Every milestone is made possible by the generosity and belief of our philanthropic and corporate partners. Together, we are creating real, fair dinkum, tangible change for the next generation.”
With a strong foundation laid in 2025, Ganbina is firmly on track to expand its impact and continue building brighter futures for Indigenous young people and their communities.
