Federation Tafe

Federation TAFE is the vocational education division of Federation University Australia, delivering a wide range of training programs designed to meet the workforce needs of regional Victoria and beyond.

Federation TAFE partners with Corrections Victoria to deliver over 25 nationally accredited VET qualifications and short courses for prisoners at multiple facilities across the state. Federation TAFE’s prison education programs aim to reduce recidivism, address social disadvantage, and help participants become job-ready post-release, supporting successful rehabilitation and lowering re-offending rates. This sector-leading program provides some of Victoria's most disadvantaged groups with transformative vocational opportunities while addressing regional workforce gaps.

With the generous support of the PMF Foundation, Federation will introduce Resilience First Aid training to people in the care of the State in Barwon Southwest correctional facilities, equipping participants with practical skills to manage stress, build emotional strength, and support their own wellbeing and that of others. This innovative program will empower individuals to better navigate the challenges of incarceration and reintegration, fostering a safer, more supportive environment within carceral settings. Alongside VET training opportunities, this Resilience First Aid empowers lasting change, building skills that will enable inmates to contribute positively to their communities and break cycles of disadvantage.
